My dentist told me I should consume fluoride for healthy teeth and gums. Where can I get fluoride, apart from the fluoride toothpaste I have been prescribed?

You will find fluoride in the following food:

  • Cereals

  • Fresh fruit and juices
  • Vegetables
  • Turkey
  • Cherry
  • Tea

One of teeth is chipped. My friend suggested bonding. What is it and what are its benefits?

Bonding is the corrective treatment for chipped. Bonding also helps fill gaps between teeth. In the bonding procedure, a composite material, typically resin, is used (bonded) on or between teeth to correct any visible flaws.

The benefits of bonding include the following:

  • The composite material used in bonding sticks to your teeth firmly.

The material used in bonding grows along with your teeth, thus avoiding the development of any cracks.

I don’t smoke but my teeth are stained. What could be the possible cause?

The cause of stained teeth may not necessarily be external. The common causes of coloured teeth, apart from smoking, are:

  • Drinking tea or coffee

  • Eating chocolate
  • Certain medication
  • Drinking red wine
  • Drinking cola

If you think these are not causing the stain in your teeth, see your doctor. If the factor is external, your dentist can help whiten your teeth.

Happy smiling!
