Typically, dental insurance covers three types of dental treatments:
- Preventative
- Restorative
- Advanced
The preventative category consists of treatments such as dental cleanings, routine check-ups etc.
The restorative category consists of treatments such as fillings, root canal therapies, or tooth extractions.
The other complicated restorative treatments fall in the advanced category.
While buying a dental insurance plan, seek information on all types of coverage. Also, compare rates with other dental insurance agencies. You should choose your dental insurance plan based on your needs. In some insurance plans, you may not be allowed to choose your own dentist, while in others, there may be an upper cut-off for dental treatments. Read the insurance conditions properly before you buy one.
If you have a favorite dentist you visit regularly, make sure your insurance plan can cover his/her fees.
Happy smiling!

Although we all want a cheap and affordable dental plan, you want to make sure that it covers you for all of the things that you need it to. There are five main questions that you need to ask yourself when choosing your dental plan, besides the cost of it.
1. Can you choose your own dentist? Some dental plans will restrict which dentists you can go to. You definetly want it to be your own choice so that you can find a dentist that is comfortable and works with you. Who would want to go to a dentist that they didn’t like?
2. Will you be able to work with your dentist to choose the best treatment for you? There are dental plans out there that will restrict payment to only the cheapest treatment for the condition even though it might not be your best option. You want to be able to work with your dentist to decide which treatment will work best and which one will last the longest.
3. What will be covered? When you choose your dental plan, you want to make sure that everything that you need is covered. This should include, two cleanings per year with no fee or office visit, x-rays and flouride and the rest of the services should be covered by at least 50%. You can find better coverage than that if you choose to but that is a good regular plan.
4. Will your appointment times be limited? You want to make sure that there are no restrictions on the times that you can make your appointments. sometimes dentists have limited scheduling times for certain dental insurance participants so it is something to watch for.
5. Exactly what will you pay? You want to know exactly what your cost will be on each proceedure. That way, you won’t have any suprises when it comes time to get dental work done.

Affordable dental insurance: in the grand scheme of things, you just might find that, depending on whom you ask, there’s a perception that affordable dental insurance is like the Loch Ness Monster - it’s rumored to exist, but no one really quite knows whether or not it really does.
So what happens if you can’t find affordable dental insurance?
Unfortunately for many people, the option that they choose when they cannot access affordable dental insurance is to not see the dentist. The reality, however, is that when you don’t make a commitment to seeing the dentist, the costs are going to add up even more over time.
If you cannot find affordable dental insurance, there are a few things that you can do. One option, of course, is to take advantage of health savings accounts if your employer offers one. Another is to talk with your dentist to see what he or she suggests to lower the cost of treatment that you need.
Unfortunately, not everyone does have access to affordable dental insurance, but if you fall into that category, please don’t make the choice to avoid going to the dentist. There are options out there.

There are a lot of people who, when they start a new job look at the list of benefits and are disappointed because dental insurance is not included. Those same people often turn to the web to search for affordable dental insurance, and then wonder why it’s so hard to find.
Part of the problem that people have when they look for affordable dental insurance is that the cost of many dental procedures is hard to predict. Amalgam fillings are less expensive, but patients have concerns about whether or not they are safe. Cleanings will be covered but often flouride treatments are not.
So the question remains: does affordable dental insurance exist? The answer, unfortunately is vague: yes and no. If you’re looking for affordable dental insurance to cover the basics, then you will probably be able to find it. If you’re looking for affordable dental insurance that will help you to pay for cosmetic procedures, you’re probably not going to be so lucky.
Most cosmetic procedures are not covered by dental insurance (just as cosmetic medical procedures are often not covered by insurers). However, in most cases, if you are planning to have work done, your dentist will be able to talk with you about pricing and payment plans that can help to put the procedures within your financial reach.

When it comes to physical health, most people have insurance that covers their visits to the doctor and treatments that they need. Not everyone - on the other hand - has affordable dental insurance that will cover the costs associated with routine cleanings as well as restorative work like fillings or orthodontics.
However, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t affordable policies that are available - it just means that you may need to do a little bit more searching. It may also mean talking with your dentist to find out what his or her recommendations are.
Talking with your dentist can prove to be even more vital because he or she is unlikely to suggest insurance carriers that do not cover the costs of work done at their practice; likewise, your dentist is likely to know which services are and are not covered. In other words, you’re likely to find that you’re at least started down the right path.
Once you know where to start, finding a dental insurance policy that is not just affordable but that is also right for your needs will be a lot simpler - and will make getting the work that you need something that can be done without breaking the bank.

Dental bills add up, even at affordable dentists like Wayzata Dental. That is why we thoroughly recommend to our patients that they enroll in an affordable dental insurance program. Affordable dental insurance can mean the difference between going to the dentist as a forethought rather than an afterthought, which is extremely important for your dental health.
The fact is, due to the costs involved with dental or medical treatment, for that matter put people off visiting a dentist. Even when the dental fees are reasonable, for many people frequent uninsured dental appointments are not part of the household budget. Dental treatment is often overlooked and it shouldn’t be.
Affordable dental insurance will reduce your dental costs and spending money on dental insurance makes people more inclined to use the service. The result is better overall dental health and less severe dental problems. Frequent trips to the dentist can mean that gingivitis is caught before serious gum disease develops, that cavities are caught when they require fillings instead of crowns, or that cavities are avoided all together.
If you are considering enrolling in an affordable dental insurance program, talk to us here at Wayzata Dental. Our dentists and staff are familiar with a wide range of dental insurance options.

If you do not have dental insurance then you probably tend to avoid going to the dentist. The fact is, a lot of serious dental problems can be effectively treated if they are caught early. Leaving them to build up, only compounds the problems. The biggest benefit to affordable dental insurance is that it makes getting to a dentist a cheaper proposition. Even at affordable dentists like Wayzata Dental, the bills add up if you wish to visit frequently.
Few would deny the importance of medical insurance. Medical insurance allows us to visit a doctor the moment that we get sick. By doing so, we reduce the risk of sicknesses becoming more serious. Dental health is just as important. Poorly cared for teeth will in time develop cavities. Small cavities will become big cavities and so on. Affordable medical insurance allows you to treat your teeth with the same care that you treat your body. That can result in better dental health, less cavities and less serious dental issues.
If you are not sure what to look for in an affordable dental insurance plan, talk to your dentist. At Wayzata Dental, our dentists have a great deal of experience with various dental plans and they will be able to give you some useful suggestions.
